General Qualifications
- Valid Illinois teaching license per current Illinois School code; Master’s Degree in math preferred
- Highly qualified per No Child Left Behind
- Demonstrated success as a math teacher; minimum five years classroom teaching experience
- Demonstrated success working with adult learners
- Demonstrated success designing and implementing Professional Development
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Proficient at interpreting and utilizing data
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable
Reports to
- Director of Curriculum or designee
Terms of Employment:
- 180-day position with 10 additional days required; wages, hours, terms, and conditions of employment in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Board of Education and the Danville Education Association
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with administrators to assist in planning, scheduling and implementing instructional programming to ensure 80% (or more) of the students meet or exceed expected core math student outcomes
- Compile data from assessment systems into a format that will facilitate review and analysis
- Stay current on math best practices
- Assist teachers and administrators with interpreting and utilizing data to organize differentiated groups and address all students’ individual academic needs
- Provide classroom teachers, teaching assistants, and paraprofessionals with strategies and activities which support and will supplement math instruction in core curriculum
- Support and encourage teachers to effectively implement and integrate technology into instruction
- Model good instruction through direct teaching of students in small and/or large group settings
- Provide staff development
- Assist the Director of Curriculum in the study and implementation of math curriculum
- Facilitate adoption of new mathematical materials as needed
- Provide support as buildings identify student mastery of math conceptual understanding
- Facilitate vertical and horizontal articulation meetings between staff and buildings
- Maintain standards specified in Professional Performance Expectations for District 118 Employees
