Reports to: Building Administrator

Terms of Employment:

  • Wages, hours, terms, and conditions of employment in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Board and the Danville Education Association

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Meets and instructs students at designated locations
  • Prepares for assigned classes and shows written evidence of preparation and implementation on request of immediate supervisor
  • Provides an effective program of instruction based on the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. This should include but not be limited to:
    1. Assist all students to achieve at their highest potential
    2. Demonstrate accurate, up-to-date knowledge of content
    3. Implement designated curriculum
    4. Teach at an appropriate instructional level
    5. Use data in making instructional decisions
    6. Promote student engagement and provide appropriate assessments
    7. Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning
    8. Use a variety of teaching materials and techniques
    9. Integrate the appropriate use of technology and multimedia in the classroom
    10. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
    11. Maintain records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
    12. Enforce regulations from the Ownership in Education manual concerning student conduct and discipline
    13. Attend and participate in faculty, department, and district meetings
    14. Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purposes when necessary and under reasonable terms
    15. Assist in the selection of books, equipment, technology, and other instructional materials
    16. Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and colleagues concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of students
    17. Establish and maintain cooperative professional relations with others
    18. Maintain confidentiality of students and student records
    19. Model correct use of language, oral and written
    20. Maintain standards as specified in Professional Performance Expectations for District 118 Employees
