Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Meets and instructs students at designated locations
  • Prepares for assigned classes and shows written evidence of preparation and implementation on request of immediate supervisor
  • Provides an effective program of instruction based on the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. This should include but not be limited to:
  • Assist all students to achieve at their highest potential
  • Demonstrate accurate, up-to-date knowledge of content
  • Implement designated curriculum
  • Teach at an appropriate instructional level
  • Use data in making instructional decisions
  • Promote student engagement and provide appropriate assessments
  • Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning
  • Use a variety of teaching materials and techniques
  • Integrate the appropriate use of technology and multimedia in the classroom
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Maintain records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
  • Enforce regulations from the Ownership in Education manual concerning student conduct and discipline
  • Attend and participate in faculty, department, and district meetings
  • Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purposes when necessary and under reasonable terms
  • Assist in the selection of books, equipment, technology, and other instructional materials
  • Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and colleagues concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of students
  • Establish and maintain cooperative professional relations with others
  • Maintain confidentiality of students and student records
  • Model correct use of language, oral and written
  • Maintain standards as specified in Professional Performance Expectations for District 118 Employees       

Reports to

  • Building Principal or designees

Terms of Employment

  • 180-day position with wages, hours, terms, and conditions of employment in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Board of Education and the Danville Education Association
