Danville School District 118 School Psychologist
General Qualifications:
- Valid Type 73 School Service Personnel Certificate
- Master's degree or higher in psychology or educational psychology with a specialization in school psychology from a regionally accredited institution.
- Successfully completion of an Illinois approved program for the preparation of school psychologists
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Excellent attention to details
- Demonstrated evidence of leadership ability and the art of working effectively with parents and colleagues
Reports to: Building Administrator(s)/Director of Special Education
Terms of Employment:
- Wages, hours, terms, and conditions of employment in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Board and the Danville Education Association
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Provide services to school personnel on behalf of children. The school psychologist shall provide consultation and in-service training experience to school personnel.
- Conduct individual psychological evaluations and interpret all findings and making recommendations which will lead to meaningful educational experience for the child.
- Counsel and perform psychological remedial measures as appropriate to the needs of students, individually or in groups.
- Participate in parent education and the development of parent understanding.
- Consult with teachers and other school personnel in relation to behavior management and learning problems.
- Consult in the development of academic and behavioral interventions
- Maintain liaison among directors, principals, teachers, parents, students, appropriate personnel, and community agencies providing assistance to improve the quality of service.
- Determine student’s ability to learn and the most appropriate instructional strategies and techniques.
- Communicate information clearly and concisely in multidisciplinary conferences.
- Write understandable and meaningful evaluation reports in standard form.
