Qualifications
- Must hold a valid Teacher Assistant Certificate
- Previous experience working with children and families required
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Must have knowledge of child growth and development, pre- and post- natal care, prevention of child abuse, interpersonal and family relationships, and parenting skills development
- Has an experience record that indicates success in working with families through in-home visits
- Must be organized and able to maintain mandated timelines
- Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain supportive strength-based, culturally sensitive relationships with pregnant women, mothers of young children, and their families by providing education, physical and emotional support
- Establish a partnership with the family and, in conjunction with the family, establish a family service plan that addressed the needs of the child and family; make bi-weekly home visits with identified families
- Conduct developmental screenings with each child
- Based upon the needs of the child, share developmentally appropriate activities with the family in addition to information regarding the child’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development
- Implement Parents as Teachers (PAT) curriculum model
- Maintain ongoing documentation as required by curriculum and grant
- Plan for and support 3 year old transition process
- Refer families to additional agencies when appropriate
- Collaborate with other School District No. 118 parent educators to provide play group opportunities in the community
- Participate in community collaboration meetings and events which could include limited evenings or weekend
- Maintain standards specified in Professional Performance Expectations for School District No. 118 Employees
Reports to
- Building Principal or designee
Terms of Employment
- 180 day position plus limited summer hours; wages, hours, terms, and conditions of employment in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Board of Education and the Danville Education Association
